Once you’ve installed WordPress Blog, you can install theme and plugin from Dashboard easily. Accidentally if you upload a faulty theme or plugin, you will find error on your site and you won’t able to login your Dashboard to delete the file.

At that time you have access your file via FTP Client or cPanel File Manager to fix this.  In this post I will show you how to access File Manager and how to delete a file using File Manager. You can also upload file via File Manager.

File Manager allow you to access, view, modify, upload and delete a files from your account.

How to Access File Manager

At first, login to your cPanel. Most of the time your cPanel link will be like http://yourdomain.com/cpanel . Hosting provider also provides a cPanel login ink. You can use that link too.

To access File Manager, scroll down and click on ‘File Manager’ under the Files section of your cPanel. Follow the screenshot. It may look different on your hosting. I am using HostGator and it looks as follows for me.  If you don’t find File Manager, contact with your host and ask them where you can find it.

Click on ‘File Manager’

After that, a pop-up will be appeared named ‘File Manager Directory Selection’. Select ‘Web Root (public_html/www)’, Check ‘Show Hidden Files(dotfiles)’ and click on Go. (Follow Screenshot)

  1. Thank you so much for your brilliant article – as a newbie to web design, you have single handedly fixed my broken website and enabled me to get into hostgator and delete the offending theme.

    Thank you kindly once again!
