9 Best “Month-to-Month” Web Hosting Plans – Starting From $0.01!

We all have been there.

When we first hear about blogging, we look for free ways to start a blog. This may lead us to Blogger or WordPress.com.

We start and then get more excited about blogging, so we start taking it more seriously.

After all, we can’t leave our content on a platform that can shut us off in a moment.

All this lead to one way, starting a WordPress blog on a host that you own.

The biggest expense when you’re starting is the hosting. There are many outrageously priced hosting plans that cost $50/month and more. They are worth it, but only when you have a decently monetized blog.

And then there are cheap WordPress hosting providers that want you to pay annually.

And with the ones you pay for annually, your payment is locked. If you want to change hosts or want to quit your blog after a month or two, you won’t get any refund from the annual fee you paid.

So, what’s the best way to get started? Go with a cheap month-to-month web hosting.

If you Google it, you’ll literally find hundreds upon hundreds of sites that offer monthly billing hosting plans. Just surfing these sites will eat up a lot of your time — not mentioning reading reviews about them.

In this post, I am going to save you all that trouble. You’ll discover the top 10 hosting plans that offer cheap month-to-month hosting plans that are good to help you take the right step in blogging.

Most of the popular bloggers started here. Even I’ve started my blogging journey with HostGator. It has been in business for over a decade now, and it is one of the well-known hosting sites in the industry.

They offer ridiculously cheap hosting plans that are good. Their customer support waiting time is not that good because of the number of customers they have. If you have a problem, you'll need to wait quite a while till you get someone to come and check your problem. But once you get a response, the support staff will help you all the way.

Other than that, the features here can't be beaten. You can also get started in the first month for just $0.01. Yep, you can get your site up and running with just 1 cent.

This is great to help you get started at nearly no cost to you.

Features:

  • Easy to Use cPanel.
  • Unlimited Bandwidth and Storage.
  • Support Available In 24/7/365.
  • Unlimited Email Address.
  • 1 Cent Web Hosting.
  • 1-Click WordPress installation
  • Free SSL Certificate.

2. InterServer

InterServer is another player in the industry that has been around for over 19 years. Staying that long till now without going out of business means that they have solid web hosting plans.

It also has affordable hosting plans that can help you get started in a short time with little cost. You can also get started in the first month for just $0.01 like HostGator.

They offer very good support with good response time.

They also offer a 99% uptime guarantee. This basically means that if your site goes down more than 1% of the time, you can get your money back.

The more your site goes down, the more visitors you lose, and the lower your rankings on Google becomes because they don't want to send visitors to a website that goes down and gives a bad experience to their searchers.

Features:

  • 99% Uptime Guarantee.
  • Unlimited Storage and Bandwidth.
  • Automatic Weekly Backups.
  • Get Started at Just 1 Cent.
  • 1-Click WP Installation.
  • Price Lock Guarantee, don't worry about the price increasing.
  • Free SSL Certificates.

3. A2 Hosting

A2 Hosting is mainly famous for its speed optimized web host. They offer well-optimized hosting with their turbo settings that can have 20x the speed of normal hosting sites. That is a hell lot of a difference.

And with Google nowadays caring more about user experience, increasing website speed will definitely improve the ranking of your site.

Their support is no joke also. Their response time is very good.

They offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee with a free website transfer.

Features:

  • Free SSD Speed Boost.
  • 1-Click WP Installs.
  • Free Site Migration.
  • Free SSL by Let's Encrypt.
  • 24/7/365 Days Support.
  • 30-Day Money Back Guarantee.
  • Cloudflare, CDN, & A2 Optimized Caching.

4. DreamHost

DreamHost was founded in 1996, way before HostGator.

DreamHost offers a huge 97-day money back guarantee which is more than almost all web hosting sites.

It has higher pricing than many of the companies in this list. Subscription starts at $10/month, which is more than double the cost of what many of the sites here offer.

You get higher performance due to their SSD drives. Just like A2 Hosting. You also get free 1 day for over 1 hour that the server goes down.

Features:

  • Only One Plan for 10$/month.
  • Free Domain Name.
  • One-Click Installation.
  • Includes JetPack Premium (Normally costs $99/year).
  • SSD Drives that Increase Speed.
  • Unlimited Disk Space.

5. WPX Hosting

WPX Hosting is a managed WordPress hosting provider that is a little bit pricier compared to others. But don't put it off the table due to the price because it is worth every penny.

Thier security is top notch. Not only do they offer free SSL certificates like other companies do, but they also offer daily malware scans, and free DDoS protection that happen in the background without you doing anything.

You also get a dedicated server, which means higher speed and better overall experience. They also offer daily backups, which may come in handy in many situations, especially when there is a problem with any of the tools or something.

If you have the budget, then I would say go for it. Currently, I am using it to host RoadToBlogging.com.

Features:

  • Free Website Migration.
  • 1-Click WordPress Installation.
  • Free Unlimited SSL Certificates.
  • Best Support Team. (Fastest support ever)
  • Daily Malware Scans and Free DDoS Protection.
  • Daily Backups.

6. Cloudways

Cloudways was founded in 2009 which is more recent than many of the companies mentioned here.

They are bluntly clear about the features you get with your account, not like the so-called unlimited plans like in other companies.

The basic plan which has 512 MB RAM, 20 GB of storage, 1 TB bandwidth and 1 Core processor is enough to get you 50k visitors a month, which is very good.

When you reach that amount, you'll consider switching to VPS servers anyway or go with highly priced sites like WPX Hosting, so don't worry.

Cloudways lets you choose the cloud provider that you want. You can choose from Digital Ocean, Vultr, Google Compute Engine, and Amazon Web Services.

You can do automatic backups as you want. You can make it daily.

The drawback is that there is no cPanel, which may be bad news for many. However, I beg to disagree. It just makes your experience easier.

Also, cloud hosting requires a certain degree of expertise, that is why it may not be good for most beginners. You can check their free trial.

Features:

  • Free SSL Certificates.
  • 1-Click WordPress Installation.
  • Backup as Scheduled.
  • No cPanel.
  • 24/7/365 Online Support.
  • Free Trial Hosting.

7. FastComet

FastComet is another company that has started to rise more recently.

People are starting to use it because of their ridiculously low price, even when compared to HostGator. Their first plan starts at $2.95/month.

They have SSD storage which means faster speed.

They also offer you a free domain for life as long as you stay on the server. They are so confident about their services that they let you try their host for 14 days for free.

Features:

  • SSD Storage.
  • Free SSL Certificates.
  • Cloudflare CDN Caching.
  • Daily Backups.
  • Multiple Server Locations.
  • 1-Click Installation.

8. GreenGeeks

GreenGeeks is the leading hosting service that has green energy web solutions. It offers eco-friendly hosting that saves energy by using wind energy.

It was founded in 2008.

They offer a free domain for life, and they allow unlimited domains, unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth for $3.95/month compared to HostGator's $5.47/month

Features:

  • Energy Friendly.
  • Free Domain for Life.
  • 1-Click WP Installation.
  • Free WordPress Migration.
  • Daily Backups.
  • Unlimited Domain Hosting.
  • Unlimited Storage & Bandwidth.

9. HostWinds

Another company founded recently (in 2010).

They highlight their 99.999% uptime guarantee in their marketing efforts. They use fan cooling, RAID backups, and multiple power sources to make sure they stay for their claim.

They also offer nightly backups, which may come in handy in many situations.

They also use SSD drivers which offer higher speed than average speed.

You can get started for 1 domains for $3.74/mo, 4 domains for 5.24$/mo, and unlimited domain for 6.74$.

Not impressive when compared to other sites, but the extra money you pay is for the guaranteed uptime, unlike other sites.

Features:

  • Unlimited Storage and Bandwidth.
  • cPanel Available.
  • Dedicated IP Address.
  • Unlimited Emails and Sub-domains.
  • 1-Click WP Installation.
  • Daily Backups.
  • SSD Drivers which offer high loading speed.
  • Instant Upgrades without downtime.

Conclusion: Which One Should You Choose?

Having a web hosting subscription is essential to take your blogging game to the next level.

It is the main expense you need to take to have that managed WordPress blog that you can control 100%.

But when most companies offer just yearly plans, you can get started paying month by month to save money and to not lock yourself up, if you don't like the server or want to choose a better host.

For many, they got started with HostGator's 1 cent hosting. You can also start there. You can also get higher hosting like A2 Hosting or even WPX hosting if you have the budget to pay for it, and I think it'll be worth it.

It all depends on the budget.

But you can't go wrong with any of the hosts mentioned in this post.

  • Do you think, they are the best? I have some bitter experience some of those. Only Cloudways and WPX serve with quality, Others just a waste of time. You can try ours if you want.

    • Istiak Rayhan says:

Not, not all of them are the best. Currently, I am using HostGator’s Cloud Hosting and WPX Hosting. Both are doing great for me.

  • faran says:

    Hello,
Your review it very well on these hosting providers. But I was really not happy with HostGator. They have so many issues. The server is very slow, and so many 500 errors. I would recommend A2 Hosting.

    • Istiak Rayhan says:

      Hi Faran,

It’s true HostGator’s shared hosting is not great anymore. But cloud hosting is great. I am using it.
