Facebook is the best media to promote any Business. Every business or site has their own fan pages for branding. When it comes to Branding we need a NICE URL for our fan page. Creating a custom URL is good idea.

By default Facebook Fan Page URL look like that

http://www.facebook.com/pages/RoadToBloggingcom/133933336748300

But it doesn’t look good and people can’t remember this URL for further visit. So it’s a better idea to make a custom URL for your fan page. Moreover it helps you in Branding your page. For example, my fan page URL is facebook.com/roadtoblogging and people can access it easily.

Earlier Facebook required at least 25 likes to get a custom URL. Now you no longer need 25 friends to do that. It is very east to do. It won’t take more than 2 minutes of your time. So lets do it. Here is the simple steps.

How to Get a Custom URL:

Before setting up the custom username here are some tips for you cause once you’ve set it you cannot change it later.

  • Keep it simple and close to your Business name.
  • You can use both the numbers and letters (use letters only)
  • Don’t add .com at the end

For Choosing your URL visit www.facebook.com/username . Then Select your page and write the custom name. Now click on ‘Check availability’.

Once they’ve have found that the username is available, you will get a popup with some cautions.

If you are OK with cautions the just click on the Confirm Button.

That’s it You’er DONE. Now you have a custom URL for your Facebook fan page.

  1. I have done this for a couple of mine. It’s really important to think carefully about what to name FB pages for SEO reasons as much as anything else. Google indexes Facebook pages so if you’ve got keywords in the URL you might be able to rank highly for them and get traffic that way.

And Facebook is a highly regarded site. You might even find that your FB page ranks higher than your own site for the keywords it’s targeting!
