How To Add “Call to Action” To WordPress (5 Easy Ways)

How To Add "Call to Action" To WordPress (5 Easy Ways) 1

Every WordPress site is created for a reason unless you are doing it for fun. And to get the benefit from the traffic you get, you want your audience to take specific actions.

Maybe you want them to share your post, purchase your product, sign up to your email list, apply for your services, purchase a product through your affiliate link, and so on.

And the more people you get taking actions, the more profit you get whether in the short term or long term, depending on your strategy.

So, how do you get people to actually take those actions?

The answer is, adding calls to actions to your WordPress site.

Yes, having proper calls to actions will help your audience to take actions.

In this post, you are going to discover what call to action is, why it is important, and how you could add it in WordPress to get maximum conversions, depending on your goal.

So without further ado, let’s get started. :)

What Is A Call to Action?

A call to action is simply asking your users to take a specific action in a direct or indirect way.

If you are selling a product, you may say something like, “You can purchase the product from the link here.”

But you can make it more powerful by adding call to action buttons like these –

These buttons don’t ask you to buy the product. The buttons want you to take one action and that’s clicking on the buttons.

So, basically, you need to put the right thing in the right place to encourage visitors to take the action.

There are several ways to add a call to action in a WordPress site. Here I’ll discuss about a few ways.

How to Add Call to Action in WordPress

Adding a powerful call to action to your site is more than just the words that you place. It needs to invite people to take action.

And you don’t need to be a great designer or developer to be able to create a powerful call to action. There are a handful number of WordPress plugins that will help you do that.

Here are 5 ways to get more out of your call to action without being a designer/developer.

1. Add CTA Buttons & Box Using Ultimate Blocks

Ultimate Blocks is a free plugin that helps you get more out of the Gutenberg editor by adding extra blocks that give you more options when creating your page.

There are two blocks that you could use to create a powerful call to action, the Button & Call to Action block.

The call to action block is created to help you create a box that has a call to action for your users to take.

Here’s a live example of ‘Call to Action’ box.

Supercharge The Gutenberg Editor!

If you’re using Gutenberg Editor, here’s a good news for you.
You can extend the functionality of Gutenberg by using Ultimate Blocks plugin. It has an awesome collection of custom Gutenberg blocks. Currently, it offers more than 15 blocks. And it’s FREE!

And if you think it will take you forever to have something like this and customize it to your needs, then you are mistaken.

The plugin makes it so easy to customize everything with just a few clicks.

That means you can customize everything like your background color, border color, content alignment, font size, button color, content, and more.

And if you don’t want to have this box and just place a button to encourage people to take action, you can do so as well.

The ‘Button (Improved)’ block by Ultimate Blocks lets you create beautiful buttons.

Here are some live examples of buttons created with Ultimate Blocks.

So, if you are using the Gutenberg editor and want to use it to create a simple call to action box or button that you could control every part of, then make sure to have the Ultimate Blocks plugin installed, and you are good to go.

2. Add Opt-in Using Thrive Leads

Thrive leads is one of the most popular premium plugins that help you build your list faster with the different forms that you could create and all the customization options that you get.

You can replicate any type of opt-in form that you find on any other site using this plugin. Seriously.

After that, you could customize it to be your own, and you don’t need to have any coding knowledge.

And don’t worry about the integration part. It integrates smoothly with most email marketing services.

Not to mention the ability to A/B test with ease, and the ability to make the forms appear where you want and when you want with their super-advanced targeting options.

So, what forms does Thrive Leads help you create to get more leads?

  • Simple In-line Forms: A simple opt-in form placed inside your content. Just create it, and then insert the shortcode inside your post/page.
  • Popup Lightbox: We are all familiar with the popup boxes that appear. They are very powerful to build your email list.
  • Sticky Ribbon: Did you see the boxes that remain at the top of the screens as you scroll? A great way to have your call to action present all the time without being aggressive like popups.
  • 2-step Opt-In Forms: Want to just place a button with your call to action, the form appears in a popup so that you don’t place the whole form inside your post/page? You can do so with ease. And it is proven to convert more, BTW.
  • Slide-In: A small popup form is created at the bottom right corner of your page. It is way less intrusive than a popup, and acceptable to most audience.
  • Opt-In Widget: A simple opt-in widget placed in any widget area like the sidebar.
  • Screen Filler Overlay: A more aggressive way to build your list that converts very highly but may be annoying for many. An overlay is created in full screen.
  • Content Lock: Place an opt-in form where they need to subscribe to view the rest of the content.
  • Scroll Mat: A screen-filling offer that is placed at the top of the page, and they need to scroll down to check out your content. More aggressive, but has high conversion rates.
  • Yes/No & Multiple Choice Forms: Did you see those popups that make it a no-brainer to sign up? You ask your audience a simple question like, “Do you want to increase your conversions?” Obviously, the answer is yes, so they will click on yes, and you will show them the opt-in form. Micro commitments increase conversions.

You can create any type of these forms with ease and then use their advanced targeting options to make it appear at the right moment, on the right pages.

So rest assured that you will have a powerful call to action form that gets you more people on your list.

4. Create Urgency With Thrive Ultimatum

Human beings are known as big procrastinators, right?

So why would people take action on your offer and not procrastinate? Offering very good value is a great way to do so, yet people may procrastinate and say that they will buy later and never return.

One thing you can do to stop people at their tracks and get them to take action is to create urgency and give them a reason to act right now.

That may be a discount, or that the offer won’t be available after a certain time, and so on.

And one plugin that helps you do so in a very powerful way is Thrive Ultimatum.

Created by the same powerful team that created Thrive Leads, Thrive Ultimatum is a feature-rich plugin that enables you to create different kinds of scarcity campaigns.

Want to have an ongoing scarcity campaign that is created for each visitor specifically without being a fake one? Thrive Ultimatum helps you create evergreen campaigns.

5. Add Social Proof & FOMO Using NotificationX

Call to actions are one of the interesting aspect in today’s era. Conversions can spike, if used at the right place with right styling. Colors matters. I prefer green most of the time and orange too.

Although, it’s not always necessary to add a call to action in the form of button. I try to mix with buttons and hyperlinks as well.

Istiak you have populated some great tools to create a solid call to actions.
    Have a great day ahead!

    Thanks,

    Hello Istiak,

I’m interested in trying out “Ultimate Blocks” very soon. I remember you told me to check it out on Facebook, but I couldn’t it back then.

I was looking for a “click to tweet” plugin. I don’t remember why I removed the previous one. So I just realized that “need” pushes a consumer to take action. We, bloggers and entrepreneurs, must grasp this reality.

    Have a good day!
