Kulwant Nagi is the founder of BloggingCage, a blog about blogging, SEO and affiliate marketing tips. He helps bloggers to create better blogs and make money out of it.

He started his blogging journey in 2011 and quickly became one of the top bloggers in India. He also runs a creative agency named AffloSpark.

1. First of all, tell us a little about your background and how you got into blogging.

Hi everyone, I am Kulwant Nagi. A guy from a very small town with very big dreams.

I have done a 3-year diploma in Electronics and Communication and then 3-year B.E in ECE. So I can say that I have wasted 6 precious years of my life learning the things which I am no more using now.

I wanted to go to the USA for the higher studies in 2010 but somehow that dream got shattered and I had to start a private job in India. Soon I found myself enclosed in the 9-5 work routine so I decided to resign after 6 months.

Soon after I resigned in June 2011, I started my first blog in September 2011 and then later BloggingCage in January 2012.

I never planned to become a blogger, just the time forced me to get into this field and I religiously followed all the tips I learned from the internet and applied many of them to become a blogger.

I always had the burning desire to do something better in my life, and that fire pushed me to become better and better every single day.

Soon I started seeing myself as one of the top bloggers in India and rest is the history. :)

2. How many blogs do you have? And how do you manage them?

We have wrapped up many of our blogs this year. As we have recently started content writing service in India, so we are putting maximum efforts to promote that service only.

Right now we are managing around 7-8 blog only.

Managing blogs is always a challenging task because you have to keep adding the content on a regular basis as well as keep on doing backlinks for them.

We used to have managers who were manging many of the blogs, but I already told you, we are no more managing many blogs now.

3. How many hours do your work on your blogs every day? And how do you manage your time?

I start my day at 11 AM and stop working at 4:30 PM.

5:00 to 6:00 PM is my nap time (it’s my daily routine from last one year).

Once I get up at 6:00 PM, I spend some time doing nothing or reading books and then get back to work at 8 PM once again.

My time to sleep is 1:00 AM.

I can say that I have quite a fix daily routine and I don’t break it.

When we start the day at 11:00 AM, the very first thing I do is check the client’s messages and articles from the writers. Once I finish delivering the content to the clients then we assign the tasks to writers.

Coordinating with clients and writers is no less than a full-time job. Right now we have 4 inhouse people and a virtual team of 40+ writers.

I agree that managing time is always a big issue in a businessman’s life but I have managed my time by allocating various tasks to inhouse guys as well as to 4 editors.

4. Do you outsource any blogging tasks? If yes, share with us some details like from where and what type of tasks you outsource.

We used to outsource the content for our niche blogs from various freelancing sites, and link building was either created by myself or we used to buy the backlinks from various websites.

Once we found that there was a gap in the industry and there were not enough content writers. Seeing this as a big issue (as we were own facing it), we decided to launch our own content writing agency where we could teach content writing to aspiring writers and produce awesome content for our clients.

My brother is a graphic designer, so we create all the graphics inhouse only.

Apart from these activities, we don’t do too much outsourcing.

5. How do you promote your blogs and the latest blog posts?

I have an active email list of 15,000+ subscribers and a VIP Facebook group having 26,000+ members. You can see that I have quite a good audience to push my content in the market. Once I share the content with my audience, they start sharing it on various social media channels and I get my first-hand publicity.

We are active on question-answer websites Quora.

If there is any relevant question on the website, we immediately jump into the conversation and promote our blog posts there too.

6. How do you monetize your blogs?

Right now the biggest part of my income comes from affiliate marketing. I have a big list of 14,000 email subscribers who are very active. I keep sending them educational emails and some product recommendations, so my email list is one of my income driving streams as well.

My blog has given me so much popularity and visibility that I keep getting paid speaking opportunities and I do paid affiliate marketing training to help people become an awesome affiliate marketer.

7. Which devices and gadgets are you using now for blogging?

Here are my blogging devices.

• Logitech M590 Mouse
• Laptop Stand

8. What apps, tools, or plugins do you use to make your blogging journey easier?

I am managing all my content planning and 40+ writers using an App Monday.

We use Flock to chat with the team anytime. Flock is a much better and faster version of Slack.

9. Which book are you reading now? Do you have any recommended books for bloggers?

The book I am reading right now is “Never Split the Difference.” This book is written by an FBI agent who has negotiated with many terrorists, killers, kidnappers and all sorts of wrong mindset human beings. This book will teach you the principles to convince someone so that you can use them in your business.
