Everyone says money is in the list, build your list.
It sounds so simple, but building an email list is not easy. I realized it once I started list building.
The first thing I had to do was choosing an email marketing software. It was so difficult to select one from so many Softwares with so many features.
I started with a free tool. And it was not the right decision. I ended up without building a list.
Then I decided to invest some money in a premium tool, and I found GetResponse. It’s affordable and an easy-to-use email marketing service.
I have been using GetResponse for a while. So far I am happy with its services. In this post, I will be sharing an in-depth GetResponse review 2018 so that you can decide whether this email marketing tool is right for you or not.
Pricing and Features of GetResponse
Pricing and Features are the most important deciding factors. You have to make sure that you are getting all necessary features within your budget.
The primary reason I chose GetResponse is its affordable pricing. GetResponse’s plans are comparatively cheaper than Aweber, iContact, etc. But it offers the same features. Now let’s take a look at GetReponse’s features.
These features are more than enough to make your email marketing easy. However, GetResponse offers many more features.

Now move to pricing.
GetResponse offers a variety of plans. The least expensive plan (Email) starts from $15/month for 1000 subscribers. The most popular plan (Pro) starts from $49 per month that lets you contact up to 5000 subscribers. The other plans are Max and Enterprise. Max starts from $165/month for 10,000 subscribers and Enterprise starts from $799/month for 100,000+ subscribers.
You already own an email list, then choose a plan according to your list size. Otherwise, you can start with Email or Pro plan. You can change your plan later if needed.

It should be easier to get started with an email marketing platform. Your time is valuable. You don’t want to waste your time on figuring out everything while using the tool.
Getting started with GetResponse is extremely easy. Here I will be sharing how to get things done in GetResponse.
At first, you need to create an account on GetResponse. Either you can start with 30-day free trial or you can buy a plan. I’d suggest to start with the basic plan (Email) and change later if needed.
You can save 18% with one year prepay and save 30% with two years prepay.
Once you’ve signed up for GetResponse, let’s see how to create a campaign, newsletter, and autoresponder in GetResponse.

Step 3: Once your campaigned has been created, you need to edit your campaign setting before doing anything else. Click on “Edit Campaign Setting”.
Step 4: On the next page, you will see 3 tabs – General, Profile, and Permission. You don’t need to change much on General and Permission tab. But take a look and see if anything needs to be changed.
In the Permission tab, You can configure message type, from field and message subject here. You can also customize confirmation message from here.
If you are offering freebies like an ebook, then select “Custom URL” from Confirmation page and enter the URL from where subscribers can download the freebies.
Once you’ve created your campaign, you can add or import contacts from “Contacts” section on the header.
2. Creating a Newsletter
You are building an email list to connect with your subscribers. The best way to do that is sending newsletters. It could be latest posts, premium contents or case studies. Now let’s see how to create a newsletter.
Step 1: Once you are logged into your GetResponse account, click on ‘Create Newsletter’ under ‘Messages’ from the main menu. You can also do this by click on the big green button above “Create Newsletter”

Step 3: On the next page, you need to enter Message name, Subject and From Email Address.
- Message name: It will appear on messages list, not to the subscribers.
- Subject: This subject title which will be shown to the subscribers.
- Form: The email address where you will receive reply from subscribers.
Step 4: Then you will be landed on the template page. You will find a lot of predesigned templates there. You can use any of these templates, or you can start from scratch.
Step 5: It’s very easy to design newsletter on GetResponse. Just drag and drop blocks from the right sidebar. And use editor buttons from the header.
Once you have created the newsletter, you can send a test message in your email. You can also see the mobile preview.
If everything is OK, click on ‘Next Step’.
Step 6: On the next step, you need to choose a campaign. You can also exclude recipients. Then click on “Next Step”.
On the next page, you will see the message summary. You can send the newsletter immediately or you can schedule it. You message will be sent after 60 seconds. Within this time, you can cancel the sending.
3. Creating An Autoresponder
An autoresponder allows you to automate your emails to engage subscribers. You can create an autoresponder in GetResponse based on time, click, open, subscription, goal or data change. Here’s how to create an autoresponder.
Step 1: Once you are logged into GetResponse, hover over “Messages” from the header and click on “Create Autoresponder”.
Step 2: You can setup autoresponder based on different events. Time-based is the most popular. We will be using Time-based on this tutorial.
Step 3: Then you need to decide on which day you want to send the autoresponder. Here I enter 15 which means I want to send the autoresponder after 15 days. And then select the campaign.
Step 4: Now choose when to send the message. Then choose a message from newsletter or autoresponder. You can also create a new email. Then give a name to your autoresponder and click on “Save and publish” button.
