  1. thank you so much! I was struggling with this for a while, and didn’t realized that option… so easy! sometimes we’re so stressed that we can’t find a sollution right in front of our eyes.

  2. I was having issues with this too and wondered why I wasn’t getting any comments. thanks so much! I did have to actually set a “close comments after X amount of days” otherwise it kept the comments closed. I set it to 900 days for now and at least the posts will stay open a few years for comments until I can go back and try to fix it again.

This saved my bacon! None of my pages were allowing comments. Your help has fixed it! Thank you so much!

  4. You are a GENIUS. I’ve had this problem for years. Every recommended the first part, but it’s your second step that makes this work. Thanks very much.

  6. This worked when I updated the date and time of my post to 5 minuets in the future.

Settings… allow users to comment on NEW posts!

    Thanks!

  7. Hi all!

So I have struggled for the last few weeks with my comment box, and this tip actually worked, but it’s tricky to find.
Make sure you are in the edit of your post in order to select “screen options.”
I was trying to do with from the quick edit, but I needed to be on full edit mode to find the “Discussion” box that needed to be checked.

Thanks so much for this, it was most helpful!

  8. Hey Istiak, I have a problem too. So I have enabled the comments but in the form people can’t put their names and email and website and post the comment, even though they can write it. What can I do?

Would be waiting for your response

  11. Very helpful information. I am setting up my first WordPress website and was stumped by this. You have an extremely good talent for explaining things. I am sure I will be visiting your site more often.

  12. I have a variant of the thread!
I am only using web pages and do not want any comments/blogs etc on the website. I have managed to delete the comments box (by unticking everything in the discussion page) but still get a statement at the bottom of each webpage saying ‘comments are closed’! Can you advise how I might suppress this text please?

  13. Great job, but still says “comments are closed” I can’t believe how difficult this process is. I’ve been trying to figure this out for months. Back to the drawing board.

  14. Nice description, but that’s in the manual. What to do if the comments are still closing, AFTER doing all this right? I’m editing an older post with comments open, click update and the comments are closed. I go back to the post, check the comments open box, click update, scroll down and the box is unchecked.

  15. Thank you very much. Your info fixed my problem. The hours of other fixes didn’t do it! And without your instruction to ‘scroll down to the bottom and make sure the discussion box is checked’ I still would have been struggling to work out why it wasn’t working. Thanks again!

  16. Just wanted to drop a quick line and say thank you.

This helped me fix the issue within just a couple of minutes.

    I appreciate it.
