How to Start a WordPress Blog on Bluehost

Start a WordPress Blog on Bluehost

So you want to start a WordPress blog? The first thing you need to do is, select a proper host for your blog.

There are thousands of web hosts claiming to meet the WordPress requirements. Choosing one WordPress web hosting among them can be a hard and time-consuming task.

But you have to make sure that your blog is on the right place. The success of your blog primarily depends on the web host. If you choose a bad web host, it won’t let you sleep easy.

When it comes to choosing a reliable WordPress hosting, I’d suggest you to go with what WordPress recommends you.

WordPress officially recommends 3 web hosts – Bluehost, Dreamhost, Laughing Squid. Bluehost is the number one WordPress recommended hosting.

I’ve been using Bluehost WordPress Hosting for more than one year. And I am really happy with its services. I’d highly recommend you to host your WordPress blog on Bluehost. In this post, I will be sharing How to Start a WordPress blog on Bluehost. (With Pictures)

Why Bluehost for WordPress blog?

Before moving further, I’d like to give some reasons to go with Bluehost for WordPress hosting.

  • Bluehost is recommended by WordPress.org since 2005.
  • Bluehost WordPress Install makes it easy to create a WordPress blog.
  • It offers a free domain name for a year.
  • It offers 24/7 WordPress technical support.
  • The price is very affordable.
  • It has a money back guarantee in case if you think Bluehost is not for you.

Now let’s see how to get started with Bluehost.

Sign Up for Bluehost (With Free Domain)

Creating an account on Bluehost is extremely easy. Just follow these simple steps.

At first, go to Exclusive offers for WordPress Users page. It’s a promo link. If you follow this link, it will show discounted $3.95/month instead of $5.99/month.

Click on green ‘get started now’ button.

On the next page, you need to select a plan. Bluehost offers 3 plans on its shared hosting – Starter, Plus, Business Pro.

If you are going to create only one blog, then you can go with Starter plan. But if you are planning to create multiple blogs, then go with Plus plan. Business pro plan is mainly for business site.

If I were you, I would select the Plus plan.

Then you need to enter your desired domain name. Your domain name should be simple, easy to remember and easy to spell.

Bluehost offers a free domain name with your hosting package. Take this advantage. Enter your domain name and click on ‘next’.

On the next page, you need to enter you account information, billing information, and package information.

On account information, give your Name, Address, Phone Number, Email Address etc. Make sure you put all information correctly. Sometimes they may verify the details.

Bluehost account information

On the package information, select your account plan. If you buy hosting for the longer period, you will save more money. I’d suggest you to go with 36-month plan. Make sure to Uncheck the options from Domain Privacy, SiteLock, Search Engine Jumpstart etc. You don’t actually need those.

Bluehost package information

On the billing information, select your payment method from Credit card or Paypal. If you don’t see the Paypal option, click on ‘More payment options’.

If everything is OK, it will ask you to install WordPress. Check ‘Show advanced options’ and enter Site Name, Admin username & password. Click on ‘Install Now’.

    Hello Rayhan,

I’m going to change my blog hosting and taking Bluehost in next month. So, thanks for step by step guide, it will definitely help me.

  • Ahmed says:

Thanks for the step by step tutorial. One thing has been irritating me for days and that is when I fill in the credit card information boxes then it takes ages to process and doesn’t come up with an error or success message. I’ve been trying to pay with a Master debit card instead of a credit card. Could that be the reason? Alternately, I tried to make an account on Hostgator which debited my bank account after I filed the credit card payment form but showed me an error message. Now, my bank has asked me to wait for 45 days to process my request for money return. Finding no hope I have launched my WordPress website on a free web hosting site which has allotted me just 215 MB of web space but been working fine up till now. I’d love to register with bluehost again but the payment issue always becomes a hurdle for me. Any suggestions?

  • Bluehost is better and cheap than GoDaddy host. I will create a blog with Bluehost.
