In the post 5 Tips to Making Your Search Listings Attractive on Google I mentioned that one of the best way to increase CTR is showing Star Rating in Google Search Results.
Google Star Rating is the rating for a product/service that shows in Search Engine Results for the particular link of the web page. It shows under the URL of the Search Listing. This rating is based on visitors response or determined by the author of the post.
As it shown under result with yellow color, it may grab the searchers attention. Grabbing attention means you have the chance to get more clicks.
If you are an Affiliate market or review writer, then it is obvious to give proper rating to the products/services. This not only helps your customers to determine the value of the product/service, but also gives you more organic traffic from search engine.
How to Show Star Rating in Google Search
If you are in WordPress platform then you are lucky enough because like everything we will do it with Plugin. I am using Author H Review plugin to add star rating in Google Search results.
This plugin has both free and premium versions. If you want more features like half rating, rating box templates etc, then you can consider going with Premium version of the Author H Review plugin.
Here are some noticeable features of the premium version.
- Half Rating.
- Rating Box Templates.
- Determine What Elements to Show on the Box (Like Button, Date etc).
- Change Button Text.
- Add Image to the Box.
- New Widget with Product Image.
- Remove rel=”nofollow” links.
- Shortcode to Display Rating Box anywhere, Related Reviews, Recent reviews.
- And many more.
However, you can go with free version if you just want to show star rating in Google Search. But if you are a serious affiliate marketer and want more sales from your reviews, I recommend you to buy the premium version.
Once you have the plugin, follow the following steps to start showing star rating on Google search results.
After installing the plugin you will find the ‘Author hReview Settings’ under your WordPress dashboard.
From setting you can display rating stars on home page, single post or even you can hide rating box. You can also determine the box width, alignment and button color.
After setting up the plugin, go to the post and you’ll find Review Setting box under your Post Editor. Enter the details of the product/service that you want to review. And select how much rating you want to give to the product/service.
After putting the all details correctly, Publish/update your post. You can check my post JustRetweet : Get More Twitter Followers, Retweets and Traffic, where I’ve used this plugin for rating.
If you want to check whether Google Search Results show your rating or not, go to Google Rich Snippets Testing Tool. Put your URL and click on preview.
That’s it. You’re DONE.
