The very first step of starting a blog or website is to buy a Domain Name. This is the unique name of your blog/site.

For example, RoadToBlogging.Com is my domain name. Whenever you type this domain name on your browser, you will enter my blog.

If you are planning to purchase a domain name, you are in the right place. In this post, I will show you how to buy a domain name from GoDaddy for just $0.99.

Before moving further, I’d love to give you some tips on choosing a good domain name.

  • Go with .com extension if possible.
  • Make it easy to spell and remember.
  • Avoid copyright violation. You can’t use a brand name on your domain.
  • Avoid hyphens, numbers & obscure terms.
  • You can use your name as a domain name if you aren’t sure what to use.

Once you’ve determined the name of your domain, now it’s time to buy your desired domain name.

When it comes to buying a domain name, I’d suggest you go with a leading company like GoDaddy. It is the world’s largest domain name registrar that offers affordable Top Level Domain.

Follow these simple steps to buy (register) a domain name from GoDaddy.

Step 1: Visit & Search For Your Desired Domain Name

At first, go to through this Promo Link (1). Then type your desired domain name and click on “Search” (2).

If the domain name is available, it will show “Yes, your domain is available”. Just select the domain name (1) and click on ‘Continue to Cart’ (2).  (Make sure your domain name’s spelling is correct)

I’d suggest you not to add any of these services now. You can buy these services later if needed. Now click on “Continue with these options”.

Once you have a GoDaddy domain name, you are just a few steps away to get your site online.

Now you need to buy hosting package from a hosting company. I’d suggest you to buy hosting from HostGator which has already hosted 9,000,000 sites. Then you need to connect GoDaddy with HostGator. Read these following tutorials.

  1. Ishtika bro, is it possible to make a website first and then go gor domain buy n hosting plans. As making website is itself a lengthy process.

Yeah, it’s possible. But you need to a bit of tech savvy to do that. I don’t recommend that. It’s better to buy the domain and web hosting first and then simply install WordPress.

Let me know if you need any help.

    1. Recently I bought a domain name from GoDaddy through my Payoneer MasterCard. If you have Payoneer card, you use that. Or else, you can give another try with your Virtual Card.

  4. Thanks for putting up this wonderful article. Why signing up with Hostgator or any hosting company, can’t GoDaddy host it for you as well at that same cost? Am just asking to get the full details.

Here are some reasons why you shouldn’t host your site on domain registrar.

      1. Hosting services like HostGator, Bluehost offer better services than the domain registrars.
      2. It’s good for security.
      3. You can change your host easily if needed.

  5. On January 2015, I have bought 2 domains with ‘Deluxe’ hosting plan and I am still there. I did not face any problem with them. Godaddy is really great. There is a common complaint that Godday has only “call” option for communication. As they are not available in live chat or email, people who are not native English speaker face problems. I am not good enough in speaking English. But, I have a different solution to talk to them. It’s their facebook fan page – When you put a message there, you can hear them quickly.

    1. Thanks for sharing your experience. I have never used their hosting service. Good to know that they are offering a good service.
