How To Register A Domain Name From GoDaddy [For $0.99]

The very first step of starting a blog or website is to buy a Domain Name. This is the unique name of your blog/site.

For example, RoadToBlogging.Com is my domain name. Whenever you type this domain name on your browser, you will enter my blog.

If you are planning to purchase a domain name, you are in the right place. In this post, I will show you how to buy a domain name from GoDaddy for just $0.99.

Before moving further, I’d love to give you some tips on choosing a good domain name.

  • Go with .com extension if possible.
  • Make it easy to spell and remember.
  • Avoid copyright violation. You can’t use a brand name on your domain.
  • Avoid hyphens, numbers & obscure terms.
  • You can use your name as a domain name if you aren’t sure what to use.

Once you’ve determined the name of your domain, now it’s time to buy your desired domain name.

When it comes to buying a domain name, I’d suggest you go with a leading company like GoDaddy. It is the world’s largest domain name registrar that offers affordable Top Level Domain.

Follow these simple steps to buy (register) a domain name from GoDaddy.

Step 1: Visit GoDaddy.com & Search For Your Desired Domain Name

At first, go to GoDaddy.com through this Promo Link (1). Then type your desired domain name and click on “Search” (2).

Step 2: Check The Availability of Your Domain Name

If the domain name is not available, it will show “Sorry, yourdomain.com is taken”. And it will suggest you some available domain name based on your domain search.

If the domain name is available, it will show “Yes, your domain is available”. Just select the domain name (1) and click on ‘Continue to Cart’ (2).  (Make sure your domain name’s spelling is correct)

Step 3: Add The Domain Name To Your Cart

On the next page, it will ask you to protect your personal information and add email to your domain. All of these services will cost you extra money.

I’d suggest you not to add any of these services now. You can buy these services later if needed. Now click on “Continue with these options”.

Step 4: Proceed To Checkout

Then you will be landed to GoDaddy Shopping Cart page. Here you can select your total purchasing year. To get your Domain name for just $0.99, select 1 year (1).  You can see your total cost on the left side. You will have to pay a small fee of $0.18 which will make your total cost $1.17.

Now click on ‘Proceed to Checkout’ (2).

Step 5: Create An Account On GoDaddy

If you have already an account on GoDaddy, just login to your account. If you don’t have any, you need to create on. Click on ‘Create an account’.

GoDaddy allows you to create an account with your Facebook ID. But I’d recommend you to create one with your email account.

Step 6: Enter Your Billing & Account Information And Complete The Payment

On the next page, you need to enter your Billing information, Account Information and Payment Information.

GoDaddy has several payment options. To reveal this offer, you have to use Credit/Debit/Prepaid Card or Checking Account.

After entering your all information, click on ‘Continue’.

Then you will be taken to the payment page according to your payment method.

Complete your payment. Your account will be activated automatically and you will get a confirmation message to your email. You will also get your login details there.

That’s it. Now you have a domain name.

I have a GoDaddy Domain name…Now what?

Once you have a GoDaddy domain name, you are just a few steps away to get your site online.

Now you need to buy hosting package from a hosting company. I’d suggest you to buy hosting from HostGator which has already hosted 9,000,000 sites. Then you need to connect GoDaddy with HostGator. Read these following tutorials.
