Though Alexa doesn’t show the actual rank of a website, it’s still one of the important factors in determining the popularity of a site. Whenever you visit a new site, and you wonder whether this site is reliable or not, Alexa rank can give you some idea about the site’s reliability. But it’s not a good idea to judge a site only by its Alexa rank.

If you are a blogger or a website owner, I’d suggest you to give some attention to your Alexa rank. High rank in Alexa creates a good impression to first-time visitors.

One of the easiest ways to boost Alexa rank is, adding Alexa ranking widget to your site. Alexa mainly tracks traffic using Alexa Toolbar. The more people visit your site with the toolbar installed on their browser, the better you rank. But the problem is, all of your visitors may not have the Alexa toolbar. At that time, Alexa Widget helps Alexa to track your traffic.

Personally, I’ve found that adding Alexa widget improves ranking. If you’ve not added Alexa widget yet, I suggest you to add the widget to improve your ranking.

How to Add Alexa Widget to WordPress

Previously Alexa had a Widget code generator tool. This tool is not available now.

But you can still add Alexa widget to your WordPress blog by inserting an HTML code or by using a third-party WordPress plugin.

At first, let’s see how to do it by adding code.

Here are three widget codes for three dimensions.

1. 120 x 95

<a href=””><script type=”text/javascript” src=””></script></a>

2. 120 x 240

<a href=””><script type=”text/javascript” src=””></script></a>

3. 468 x 60

<a href=””><script type=”text/javascript” src=””></script></a>

Here is the preview of these codes.

Now copy any of the HTML codes and change to your website in two places in the HTML code. Then copy and paste it into your WordPress site’s Text Widget. If you don’t know how to do this, follow these simple steps.

  1. Login to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Go to Appearance > Widgets.
  3. Drag ‘Text’ widget and drop it on sidebar or footer.
  4. Then click on the ‘Text’ widget and paste the code there.
  5. And click on ‘Save’.

That’s it. You are done.
